The Big-D Chorus is very proud and excited to announce the hiring of its newest director, Mark Holdeman.

Mark is a 40 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society. A second generation barbershopper, Mark studied Vocal Music Education at Phillips University and the University of Central Oklahoma.  He has specialized in chapter growth, having started a chapter in Oklahoma and revitalized two others as a Certified Musical Director in Texas.

A former Singing Category Judge, he served several years on the Singing Category Board of Review and judged three International Competitions. He also won a Gold Medal with the Vocal Majority in 1997, and was the Southwestern District’s Barbershopper of the Year in 2009. He has served on the faculty of the Southwestern District’s Harmony Ranch for many years. 

Mark is also active with the Contemporary Acapella Society of America (CASA) and is the host of “ShopTalk”, a weekly barbershop program on the Internet radio station Acaville.org. He coaches many groups, both barbershop and contemporary, in Texas and surrounding states. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Sing! Texas and is a past Board of Directors member of the Southwestern District.
